Hawaii easily ranks amongst the most popular holiday destinations in the world. Even the Florida beaches pale before the legendary sun, sand, and surf experience of Hawaii. Though, beaches are an inseparable part of Hawaiian identity but this is not all Hawaii holidays are about. While the days can be spent beach hopping or checking out numerous other attractions, one can also revel in some Las Vegas style fun in one of the casino hotels. Holidays here will definitely spoil you for choice. Here are just four of the spoilers.
Hanalei Bay Beach, Kauai
Lying on the north shore of Kauai, the Hanalei Bay Beach is perhaps the most stunning Beach in Hawaii. Mist wrapped emerald mountains and sparkling waterfalls in the background give this pristine white sand semi-circle a fantastic surreal appeal. Huge coral reefs line both ends of the bay. The beach is about two miles long and is bordered by the Waipa and Hanalei rivers to its west and east respectively. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, boating, and a world of other water sporting activities ensure that the day passes in a jiffy. Needless to say, if you are a beach enthusiast, the Hanalei Bay Beach is an absolutely not to be missed spot during your holidays to Hawaii.
Hawaii National Volcanoes Park
This is one spot to safely watch what nature’s fury can be all about. Home to the constantly lava spewing Kilauea volcano, the Hawai’i National Volcanoes Park is the top most priority of innumerable visitors on their Hawaii holidays. Lucky visitors even get to see freshly erupted molten lava making its way to the sea. Take a guided walk tour and check out old lava trails, the tropical rainforest, steam emitting craters, and hollowed out lava tubes. The sights of the Hawaii National Volcanoes Park were enough to make me forget about casinos of Las Vegas or the beaches of Florida.
Mt Haleakala
Take the spiralling drive to the top of the Mt Haleakala. The summit, at a height of some 3055 metres appears to be a surreal landscape. Huge volcanic craters seem to gobble up floating cloud banks and the ten-year-blooming Haleakala silversword flourishes, which is not to be found anywhere else on the planet. If you want to come back with yet another unforgettable reminder of your holidays to Hawaii, don’t forget to join one of the tours for watching the rising sun from the summit.
USS Arizona Memorial
Although, Hawaii holidays are like second name to leisure and recreation, the destination is also well known for Pearl Harbour, the place where more than a thousand US sailors perished during the World War II. Just a single sight of the wreckage of the USS Arizona is enough to open the flood gates of memory lane.
