Almost sixty of the mammals have already died, according to local media.
Volunteers and conservationists are working around the clock to save the creatures that remain alive. Officials said rainy weather has helped their efforts. As each of the mammals weigh around 1.5 tonnes, heavy machinery will be brought in on Saturday to try move the whales back to sea.
It's the second such incidence in recent history, more than 100 whales were stranded on the same beach in 2007.
